Nevermore Lose Guitarist And Drummer

Nevermore have parted ways with guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams. The following joint statement was issued on their departure:

“In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time.”

    • Too bad they didnt just fuck off that annoying singer, i really liked Nevermores music just couldnt deal with that unbearable singing. Oh well bring on a sick new project Jeff or a follow up to Zero Order Phase

    • Personally I like their singer but Zero Oder Phase was pretty phenomenal, I blast that album all the time. Their must have been a falling out between Warrel and Jeff’s solo albums. I felt like Obsidian Conspiracy was weak compared to their other albums, it seemed like all their creative energy had been exhausted on their solo projects. Alas, maybe it’s for the best, but it’s hard to imagine Nevermore sans Loomis.

    • I loved The Obsidian Conspiracy and have always thought Warrel to be one of the most powerful, incredible vocalists and lyricists out there. Nobody sounds like that mad, paranoid son of a bitch. I love Jeff’s and Van’s playing, and moving on without them would be super difficult if not impossible, but Warrel has always been my main man.

Holy shit balls, and I’m here getting ready to go see Symphony X tonight. I was already bummed that Nevermore and Soilwork dropped. especially since the replacement was Blackguard which I don’t really fancy much. we’ll see how it goes i guess.

Anything done by Williams and Loomis is astounding so they’ll be fine regardless, much as I like Warrel Dane’s style I can’t see him doing anything fantastic w/o a supporting cast at the level of JL and VW. Hopefully it’ll be a short time between somebody going to rehab or something and a reunion.

    • Warrel Dane is the shit, but he does need some good band direction as his solo album was pretty half-assed. Then again, Obsidian Conspiracy was too. Does anyone have a more original and fucking cool voice though?
