Korn Streaming New Track “Get Up”, New EP Due In May

Korn‘s new track “Get Up” has premiered online in its entirety over at Spin.com. The song, a collaboration with Skrillex, will appear on a new EP the band are tentatively expecting to release in May.

Speaking to Spin on the collaboration, band frontman Jonathan Davis offered the following:

“I heard a few of Skrillex‘s re-mixes and really felt there would be a good chance that he would have the right sensibility to connect us to a new hard sound and direction, but still keeping Korn guitars and our vibe, We were just thinking of trying something new, to be honest, so I had my manager reach out to the Skrillex camp. When we got into the studio the connection was instant!”

As previously reported, Epic/Legacy are preparing a 2-CD 29 track compilation of Korn material entitled “The Essential Korn” for a May 10th release date.

    • I must be feeling nice today. the song sucks of course, but I hate korn. even saw them live once back in high school and found myself for the first time ever bored at a concert. all that said, I commend korn for atleast trying to find “their edge” again. even if they follow the wrong path once and awhile. I feel as though they want their edge back, they just can’t find it. perhaps they should look under the piles of money and speed boats.

    • It’s astounding how Sonny has totally blown-up over night..Not my cup ‘O joe, but he’s done well to genre-hop. For those that don’t know, he was the singer for screamo band, From First to Last.

    • I really like Skrillex’ influence on this song (both of his EPs are a good listen). As a Korn song on its own it probably would have turned out weak as fuck.

I was probably the hugest Korn fan in my town for the first 2 albums, but after “got the life” when all the ginos and rich kids jumped on they let it get to their head. Now the old fans have moved on and dont care. They are obviously trying for the young kids with sonny, so good luck with that one. I actually like the last cd with it being stripped down and no Reznor rip offs, but it looks like they are headed back down that path. See you all at family values this summer hahaha is staind putting out an album too?
