Slipknot Frontman Comments On Velvet Revolver Rumors

Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor is thought to be among the leading candidates to take over the vocal duties in Velvet Revolver. The spot has been vacant since Scott Weiland left the position in 2008. When recently asked about his potential involvement with the group by Billboard.com, Taylor only offered “to be continued!”

More on that and Taylor‘s thoughts on returning to Slipknot can be found at the above-mentioned link.

    • He already admitted in an interview I was on Fuel TV that he tried out for the spot, so I am guessing they are trying to figure out who does less drugs and go with that.

    • Fuck that, Scott Weiland is badass! Corey Taylor can’t compare… Velvet Revolver is boring… especially since Scott was kicked out…. so now, useless!

    • Corey Taylor needs to put his mask back on. He was much better singing Wait and Bleed than any of this rock star shit. I hate the following: VR, STP, all Slipknot albums after the first. Hate hate hate…:)

what a breakthrouhg moment in my double life as a recreational swimmer in this online sea of endless 1′s and 0′s; I can finally agree with adam on something. someone throw me a life vest please. on a second note, If I were ever stranded in the middle of the ocean with a walkman and 10 cd’s. Core would be one of them for sure.

Wow. I love Corey’s music, but VR is a joke. Slash is an overrated joke. Yeah, he’s good, but he’s only “Top 5 guitarists of all time” because of how infamous GNR was, not because of his talent. Corey needs to stick with SlipKnot, and realize that by joining VR, he’s pretty much turning his back what he preached so blissfully in Slipknot. VR is Nickelback, Buckcherry, Saving Abel, My Darkest Days, and all that other “only good if you’re drunk” music. And I don’t drink, so ’nuff said on that. I can’t stand Weiland, I can’t stand VR, and I can’t stand anything they ever did. STP has some good songs, but that’s it. VR needs to just call it a day. Stone Sour is as far as I’ll follow Corey. I just hate every one of these bands that take 2 days to write an album, because it’s so easy to write a song about boozin’ and women. Even most 80′s hair-metal bands wrote smarter songs than these clowns. Slipknot and Stone Sour in, VR out. That’s how I see it. Yeah.

    • Well… I can SORT OF see what he’s saying. Even though Stone Sour is now pretty much indistinguishable from radio rock, I still have a small reservoir of goodwill left over from their debut. It definitely had an edge back then, even though it was the beginning of the end of Corey’s run as a metalhead.

i think corey would sound good in vr, but i think he needs to limit how many bands he is in. he should continue making music for slipknot and stone sour, and stick with that. maybe playing a song or something with them is one thing, but he doesnt need to commit to a 3rd band

    • Anyone else have XM Radio? Well there’s this grunge station called Lithium, and if you listen to it regularly for just a few weeks, you’ll seriously start to resent STP. I had nothing against them before and enjoyed them to at least a casual extent (never a HUGE fan), but now they leave a bad taste in my mouth because the station programmer must be off-his-rocker-obsessed with them. Seriously, if you listen to this station for one hour, you’ll hear Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and STP twice. Not a DROP of hyperbole here, I am dead fucking serious. EVERY hour of EVERY day. The Boneyard does the same thing with Metallica and Rush, which I for some reason find a lot less annoying, probably due to them having much larger catalogs to draw from.

    • Lithium sounds like the best radio station ever. I’ve seen STP 3 consecutive years in 3 different states, the first time traveling 10 hours round-trip for Rock on the Range which was their first public performance since getting back together (not a gigantic feat, but we did all of the travel + show without a hotel).
