Avenged Sevenfold Reveal New Drummer
Avenged Sevenfold have lined up former Confide drummer Arin Ilejay to handle the drums for them for the foreseeable future. Ilejay takes over the spot from Mike Portnoy, who recently vacated the position.
The group offered the following statement on the matter:
“We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style, and also knew our music and each of our personalities to suggest drummers to tour with us starting this year. Our long time studio drum tech, Mike Fasano, recommended Arin Ilejay. We’ve rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his technical skills, attitude and work ethic. We’re very excited to tour with Arin and hope all of you will give him the warm welcome to the family we have.
Thanks for your never ending support. It means the world to us.
See you on the Nightmare After Christmas“

COMMENTS
Confide were a generic Christian band, this should be interesting, I wonder if his moral code will change when he gets the opportunity to snort blow off of strippers assholes.
He is a talented drummer, but I can see his ideologies getting in the way of this venture. From what I know, cocaine and prostitutes are not compatible with the word of Christ.
“From what I know, cocaine and prostitutes are not compatible with the word of Christ.”
Yeah, but the money he makes is probably pretty compatible.
“Terrible drummer from terrible band joins another terrible band, more at 11.”
I don’t understand the whole “compatible with Christ” thing. Wasn’t everyone back in those days high on opium and everything else? Back before they even knew what drugs were? I’m just sayin’. Anywho, good to see A7X is still moving forward. Most good.
And Jesus El Savior was BFF with Mary Magdalene, no? A foxy “woman of ill repute”?
The Bible isn’t Pleasantville, people. Some crazy shit (apparently) went down back then.
I’m being completely sarcastic metalhead. Sometimes it is hard for me to express that through a text-based interface, but I keep trying.
fuck me for reading this post. worst band.
I’m aware of the sarcasm…I was just keeping it going. Most good.
Who cares?
Every time this band tours, I pray their bus explodes and no one survives.
I like way more of their stuff than I dislike, so I’d consider myself a fan. Waking the Fallen is a great album, but the white album is incredibly meh. Nightmare wasn’t too bad….. God Hates Us was certainly a throwback to their earlier sound. And they put on a good live show. Overall I’d say I’d continue to see them if they were at a local festival, but I don’t know if I’d go out of my way for a headline show.
can’t say I’m a huge fan of Avenged Sevenfold’s music but it’s good to know they are continuing on. I wouldn’t go as far as calling them the worst band though, I think musicians like Brokencyde and Dot Dot Curve should be given consideration for that title.
I will have to agree on that one, Crunk Core fail
Well Kent, according to Cypress Hill, Genesis 1:12 tells us that God gave us “all the seed-bearing herbs and plants to use.” I believe that the Coca plant bears seeds.
Not sure about the pros tho…
