Finch Officially Break Up
Finch have officially announced their decision to call it a day. In a statement posted via their official website, www.officialfinch.com, the band offered the following:
“Dear Finch fans,
….
.. ..
Over the past two years we as a band have obsessed tirelessly trying to bring you the best record Finch has ever made. Blowing everything else out of the water was the only option. If we couldn’t drop the bomb, we wouldn’t blow it up…..
.. ..
….From the beginning what’s always made up the sound of Finch was our ability to take our individual influences, no matter how different, and write music together that stands on it’s own. A tense balancing act on a loose wire where we have had success crossing and also lost balance to fall and be broken. Over the past few years we have collectively gone insane trying to achieve the common goal of writing our new record. It’s become obvious to all of us that the thing that made Finch such a special band to be in, was also the key ingredient that was tearing us apart. As we get older and broaden our musical pallets, we are all on separate planets drifting further and further out of orbit. Finch is our sun, it has given us everything that we have. This year our sun imploded. Although we travel through darkness. It’s comforting to know that we are all still friends. Together floating in the unknown.
….
.. ..
….We want to thank you for your undying love and support of our band. Without you, accomplishing our wildest dreams would not have been possible. We apologize deeply for letting you down. Please forgive us and please keep listening to Finch.
.. ..
Thank you for Finch.
.. ..
-Finch….”
As a parting gift the group have offered a number of b-sides, live tracks and covers through their Bandcamp. In addition, now former bassist Daniel Wonacott has been involving himself in a group dubbed Arctic Circles.

COMMENTS
How depressing.
This news has about the same impact as a homeless person dying.
whoever dismissed this band as emo at first should give say hello to sunshine a chance.. awesome album.
I loved What It Is to Burn in high school; in hindsight I wish I would’ve caught them on their last tour for nostalgia’s sake.
Too bad…I was looking forward to more Faith No More rip-offs.
Say Hello To Sunshine is a brilliant album.
WIITB and SHTS are both pretty good in my opinion
say hello to sunshine is a very under-rated album. great writing and surprisingly brutal vocals for a band that once had mtv air time. the ep was a bit of a let down but this band had sooo much potential.
these guys put on a fairly entertaining live show, they will be missed
this breakup is just an 8 year devious plan by disturbed… those assholes won, quick someone make a threat to put a bullet in Draiman’s head
Two things I remember about Finch:
1. What It Is To Burn
2. Getting their asses kicked by Disturbed’s roadies.
..yawn…Fender couldn’t have put it into better words.
Say Hello To Sunshine really was an excellent album. Jay Two – I’ve heard your band, ssshhhhh, quiet dude…don’t throw stones.
Tears. This band has been a huge influence on my band. At least they knew when to throw in the towel.
Say Hello To Sunshine keeps sounding fresh each year when I pick it up. Very cool to compare it to What it is to burn and hear how mature it is. Clever rhythms and ambitious vocal work, love it. I’m sad they didn’t press on at the time, through all the fan-criticism, as they could’ve gotten big in my opinion.
