    • come on fellas, jacoby just wanted to remember what it feels like to rock, and the ‘tones (I believe) just get the “big head” watching their peers relive old glory days

This is fine with me. In the past year Deftones have been joined onstage by that chick from paramore, that fucking guy from my so called life, and now the future (current?) pedophile frontman of papa roach. Every now and then a member of a shitty band kisses Deftones ass and they throw them a bone by allowing them to share the stage. That way they can know how it feels to be part of an iconic band, if only for a brief moment. Random acts of kindness people.

    • The dude from Papa Roach is all trying to steal show and, Chino just sitting in the back probably thinking ” i’m so going to bang that hot girl in the front role with the titts! gotta put that on my to do list. by the way whose this guy up on stage with me man he’s killing my buzz.”

      Chino’s to do list
      eat dinner
smoke a joint and, drink a few beers
      do concert
let some shitty singer from some nu metal band do guest vocals.
      after concert
smoke more weed drink more beer.
Bang hot girl with big titts in the dressing room.

shouldnt u put some muscles in that muscle shirt:? i do believe he was trying to steal the show and made him off time and shit and he looks like a happy puppy getting a treat or a lisbian getting a sex change, he looks more out of place then a black dude in a kkk march, but all jokes aside infest was a cool ass cd that still kicks ass and some of there new stuff is cool for radio friendly rock.

This had to have been an accident. Papa Gay got a woody and just took it upon himself to run out there and make himself a part of the show and Deftones being classy gentlemen and in the holiday spirit let him get away with it,

    • I have never understood the love for Deftones

Granted it came out awhile ago and they have yet to touch it since, I would listen to Infest a million times over before a Deftones track (maybe short of Shove It) anyday

^ because then his Dad would be forced to search for gay porn on his blackberry? Papa Roach sucks. I would rather put teenager on repeat and listen to it all day then suffer through little Coby Dick whining about his broken home for one minute. WAAAAHH! MY MOM CAUGHT MY DAD KNUCKLE DEEP IN MY ASS AND NOW THEY’RE GETTING A DIVORCE! BROKEN HOME!!!! WAAAHHHHH!

    • You have such a terrible attitude, I don’t see why Wal-Mart ever hired you to collect the shopping carts. You’re (note: correct version) just going to renege on that promise to finish your (note: correct version) GED on your (note: correct version) 29th birthday.

    • I find it interesting how Deftones fans try to convince themselves that this band wasn’t the epitome of nu-metal back in their hey-day, even if it was better than most that came out. Also, how they’re all somehow “above” nu-metal and an association w/ Papa Roach as if the two bands were so different back when they met and probably became friends. I used to like both bands back in the day and honestly, I appreciate Papa Roach for what they do now. They’re simply a rock band anymore, much like Atreyu. Something to put on in the background or when you’re having some beers and nothing more.

    • i agree with cma3585
if grew up in the same area as they are from (northern ca) you’d understand more, because they played together, atleast jacoby looks like hes having fun.
of course it would be great to see grady from will haven up there but whatever.

    • They’re some real faggots here…..seriously. Deftones is a band that will always be considered a milestone in musics timeline. Unlike Papa Roach which was just the gay ass mainstream 3 chord rock band that made you quit listening to radio. All you papa gay fans can go suck a bag of dicks.

    • LOL @ Deftones as a “milestone”. Deftones aren’t even a blip on the timeline of important bands in rock history. Second most overrated band by its fans next to Tool, except Tool > Deftones.

    • Not every band has to be Slayer or to be incredible technically to be good, fun music. Shit I’d rather listen to Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry over everything Deftones, and I’m well aware it’s not the most incredibly well-written song out there. But guess what? It’s good. Just like Papa Roach, which also happens to be one hell of a good live band. Papa Roach > Tool > Deftones

      ^Wow.

Did this dipshit just say that Papa Roach is better than Deftones AND Tool?

Anyways, I don’t see why there has to be a competition. Chino and Jacoby are probably old friends from back in the day.

But seriously, Papa Roach better? Get the fuck out of here!

cma3585, Deftones fans don’t need to deny that they were once the epitome of numetal, because they practically invented the genre and influenced nearly every band that has surfaced since. Just when numetal was turning to shit and the genre became saturated with cheap Korn and Deftones clones, Deftones gave numetal the finger, went in a different direction, and by doing so influenced yet another generation of bands. Papa Roach wouldn’t exist without Deftones paving the way and I’m sure Jacoby wouldn’t deny it. They are much more than “a blip on the timeline of important bands in rock history,” they are one of the most influential bands in the last 15 years. What is even more amazing is the fact that Deftones have been able to have such a great influence on music without the ever receiving major radio airplay, making them arguably the most underrated band in history. You don’t have to like Deftones, but to downplay their accomplishments is sheer ignorance.

Oh, and adam, nice effort on the GED/Walmart joke. I would take offense to it except that you have already stated in a previous thread that you are a Central Michigan University undergrad student. Being a Michigan native, I am well aware of the fact that you only need a highschool GPA of 2.0 to be accepted to CMU, making it one of the easiest universities in the state get into. Stop back and try that joke again when you’ve stopped listening to Papa Roach and Bring Me The Horizon and have actually accomplished something in your life.

    • They have no accomplishments, except in your own simple minds. Their Grammy was pure luck, it should have without a doubt gone to Slipknot. If not, any of the other three options would’ve made more sense then them. I’m just wondering, how do Deftones paint their faces to show their allegiance to Deftones Nation?

    • I love when people argue about bands that really don’t sound anything alike. Personally, I love Deftones and can’t stand Papa Roach but I’m not going to argue that Deftones are better. It’s like arguing who’s better, Taking Back Sunday or Burzum?

    • Although they originate about 5 minutes away from my hometown, no, I can’t stand ICP (nor their fans – which I liken to Deftones fans in regards to their fervor in supporting mediocre talent).

    • Not sure if any of you Deftones haters have musical talent or have been in bands yourselves, but maintaining the same line up for as long as the did is a pretty big accomplishment on its own. Saying they aren’t even a blip on a timeline is absurd and I really hope your joking about the face painting thing.

    • My fault for realizing that musical talent and accomplishments were determined by how long a band has been together as opposed to the music they produce – what the fuck was I thinking? ALL HAIL U2!!!!!!

    • You said they have made no accomplishments, I pointed out a big one. Now you go back to saying the have no talent which you are pretty much completely alone on. I guess I shouldn’t be expecting much from a person who could seriously say that Papa Roach is a better band than Deftones. Its a shame actually. You’ll grow out of it bro.

Adam, It’s one thing to debate the accomplishments and/or the influence of certain bands over others, and if that were the case, Papa Roach wouldn’t hold a fucking candle to the Deftones. It’s another to be a shit talker who can’t find anything better to do than troll. Now getting some pussy once in a while qualifies as a more productive use of free time, look into it.

To me, every time I listen to a Deftones album, it reminds me of the best things that were happening in my life when that particular album was released. I don’t listen to them every day, and I don’t think any of the musicians are the best musicians in the world.. but Abe is a fuckin’ wonderful drummer, and I sure do love the lyrics of Chino. Everything else about them is cool and pretty incredible. I would say money is an accomplishment, Chino is worth $15mil, but when it comes to art, commercialism usually comes out ahead. I suppose some of these Deftones fans consider this band to be what The Mars Volta is to me, though I truly think Deftones aren’t as timeless. I’m not as articulate right now, just put my son to sleep and winding down. I find it extremely hard to justify talking trash about ‘em.. and Papa Roach being better than them?!?! WHOA. • I appreciate a band like the Deftones willing to put theirselves and their credibiility to the test by letting singers of mainstream bands come on stage. Even if the mainstream bands are shitty, shows a great deal of courage on the Deftones part. Hell, back when Sevendust were touring before their first album came out, i was at their show on thanksgiving and they let me sing Prayer on stage with them in Atlanta. I sounded like Garth Brooks on steroids yet noone seemed to complain then =D

    • Woah hold it there, I’m certainly not saying Papa Roach influenced other bands. I’m sure they did for some, but nothing major/noteworthy. I don’t listen to music simply because I feel it is “groundbreaking” or that they are “leaders of the industry”, and my tastes vary amongst a number of genres. Are they more technically proficient than the Deftones? Maybe not, but they sure should better – alexisonfire, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, Stone Temple Pilots, Bad Religion, Coheed and Cambria, Incubus, Sublime, Eminem, Dinosaur Jr., Saul Williams, City & Colour, 311, and yes, Kid Rock.

    • i’m curious as to why everyone is all gung-ho for Deftones now that Diamond Eyes is getting great reviews. They’ve been putting out great records ever since Adrenaline. People just fail to realize that sometimes not all of their albums will have a “radio friendly” hit on it. I personally like Self-titled and Saturday Night Wrist. Diamond Eyes is a good album, but not their best. Chino probably does do his best vocal performances on DE though.

Gracias, Surly.. Deftones’ “Lifter” & “She Loves Me Not” by Faith No More are my son’s favs to be sung to sleep. John Mellencamp’s “Junior” & “Heathen Temple” by Pig Destroyer when he wakes up.
