Machine Head have begun demoing new material for their next effort. Band frontman/guitarist Robb Flynn recently checked in with the following tweet and image:
So did I. BME will always be a classic, but they squeezed every ounce of passion, rage, and maturity into Empires and Blackening. NOBODY sounds like the Head.
so you’re saying I should check out Through the Ashes of Empires? I came late to the party, the Blackening was my intro to them. I bought their first one, it rules also.
Honestly The More Things Change is my favorite MH album…I never understood why everyone got on their case about that as a follow up to BME. All that said, I’ve enjoyed every album/phase of this band’s career. They always put on an epic show too.
@will – Yes, and immediately. TTAOE was their comeback from their “down” period,” and it crushes. Perfect prelude to The Blackening. @cma3585 – I’m puzzled too; I always thought The More Things Change was a great followup. And I agree about every album/phase – even Supercharger is still a great listen. Epic show, check… oh fuck, I just came. I’ll shut up now and go clean/sober up.
will do everyone. thanks for the heads up. been jamming them for bout a year. bought the burning red about 3 months ago. forgot the name of it when I last wrote on this page. it kinda blows. is that part of this down period?
Can’t effen wait for the release, regardless of how long it takes if it matches the ferocity of the blackening I’m sold. The idea of MH headlining a tour is far more appealing to me than anything else, being located in a shitty region of the U.S.(In terms of big tours/festivals) folks like myself are foamin’ at the mouth for this band, I’ll drive to fucking Chicago if I have to in order to see these guys live, provided they play a full set.

Way past due on this, but fuck yeah. Boner time.
Fan – fucking – tastic!
finally, MH kicks ass
I think I just drooled.
Sweet. I actually felt both Through the Ashes of Empires and The Blackening were their best work.

What I love most about this band is that their guitarist randomly passes out on stage in the middle of a set.
@Will Go to youtube and check out the video for Imperium. The song is excellent.
