Disturbed, Korn, Sevendust And In This Moment Confirmed For 2011 “Music As A Weapon Tour”

Disturbed and Korn will officially co-headline next years edition of the “Music As A Weapon Tour“. The trek will be rounded out by Sevendust and In This Moment.

Speaking on the tour, Disturbed frontman David Draiman offered the following:

“Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve.”

Initial cities announced for the trek include:

Atlantic City, NJ
Biloxi, MS
Bloomington, IL
Corpus Christi, TX
Des Moines, IA
Fayetteville, NC
Glens Falls, NY
Hershey, PA
Lubbock, TX
McAllen, TX
Morgantown, WV
Nashville, TN
Norfolk, VA
Portland, ME
Rockford, IL
San Antonio, TX
Uncasville, CT
West Long Branch, NJ
Winston-Salem, NC

Full dates will be revealed shortly.

    • While I don’t have much interest in this aside from Sevendust, kudos for heading to a lot of smaller markets. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a tour like this stop in Fayetteville…I imagine they’ll draw good numbers from the Ft. Bragg crowd.

Well, at least ” Music As A Weapon ” is appropriate, listening to any of those bands would be enough to get me ou of bed and hide in a shelter until they pass.

    • LOL@ the guy who said they’re going with smaller markets because they know they can’t fill up larger venues. These are two of the biggest bands in rock music today. If they can’t fill them up, only Metallica can, retard. To further drive home the idea, these bands play the smaller markets AFTER they’ve played the big ones (both did Rockstar fests this summer) to further cash in. Every band that CAN do it does it. It’s actually the sign that you have fucking made it.

    • I would also go to this if it was like the 20 dollar general admission tour. That doesn’t seem likely though. Also, I’d hold my hands tight against my ears the whole time Sevendust was on because they fucking annoy the shit outta me these days. OK I’m done.

    • @mj – “It’s actually the sign that you have fucking made it.”
Eeeehhh, I don’t know about that. Fine, you see smaller market tours that closely follow huge market tours, but some bands are relegated to the small market circuit because they’re on their way down and can’t fill an arena anymore. This tour seems like a let’s-all-get-together-and-do-this-now-before-we’re-completely-irrelevant tour. Not an accusation – I’d do the same if I was in their Adidas shoes.

    • Disturbed/Uproar filled-up the amphitheater that is associated with Houston (it’s actually about a half hour north), but I think that was also helped by the 2 for $20 tickets (which is what we purchased).

This tour will be kick-ass! I don’t understand why so many people follow these bands around online and just HAVE to post comments about how much they don’t like them. Is really that worth it? Why even click on the link? Do you feel like you’ve accomplished something? People like what they like, get over it! The fact is though, that Disturbed, KoRn and Sevendust are some of the most influencial hard-rock bands of our time, and there is no way to deny it. Does popularity=good all the time? Of course not. But in the hard-rock world, most of the time it actually does. These bands, contrary to what most people think, actually DO try new things and sing about different subjects. That’s what I hate about these death-metal bands that are supposedly superior to the “main-stream.” They all sound exactly the same, sing about exactly the same things, and all have totally off-the-wall names just to sound different. Yes, KoRn is off-the-wall, but it’s not just some big word from out of nowhere. It seems like a lot of death metal bands just flip through the dictionary and look for the biggest, coolest sounding word. What the fuck does “Cataclysm” or “Intronaut” have to do with anything? And atleast Disturbed’s music matches what their name is about. And it seems like “underground” bands all have the same lyrice, like “We wont die, lets rise…” I get where their coming from, but don’t do it in every song! I know they don’t ALL do this, but Disturbed’s songs don’t ALL sound the same, either. And yes, some death metal is good, as well. Fear Factory is legendary! But that’s all my opinion on this, so no need to get all worked up. The point is that these bands are all amazing, and they really care about putting on a great live show. I’ve been let down way too many times seeing a bands like Trivium or someone, that just get up, play, and leave. It’s not ALL about the music, it’s about a good combination of both musicians-ship and showmanship, and if you can’t do both, why even tour? This is an amazing lineup, and atleast to me, I wont have to sit through a single bad band to get to the good ones. They’re all good, including In This Moment. I’ve always loved Disturbed’s music, and they’re definitely my all-time favorite band. How does anyone compare them to Justin Beiber, anyway? (It was mentioned on blabbermouth or something) Just because Disturbed is one of the most popular and best selling hard-rock bands ever, doesn’t link them in with pop radio. It’s like saying, “Oh no, I guess Slipknot went platinum, it’s time to hate them.” Why is mainstream such a bad thing to everyone? You can dislike their music, but don’t force yourself to dislike them just because they’re a popular band. Alright. That’s my argument, I’m not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but I’m entitled to observations and opinion. Now it’s time to wait patiently for this tour! Good day to you sir. Yes yes.

    • To answer your first of many questions, we come on here to say bad things about bands we don’t like because we’re here all the time, a lot of us every day. We post on just about every subject we have anything to say about, good or bad. You just happen to troll the internet looking for Disturbed links, then sign up for the message board to write one essay sized post and bounce. It’s unfair to the next guy that wants to be known as Metalhead27, really. The only other two things I would care to comment on is 1) I don’t think you can call Fear Factory death metal and 2) the lyrics you exemplified as typical death metal lyrics (“we won’t die…let’s rise”) sound EXACTLY like Disturbed lyrics (and I am a quasi-fan of the band so I’d know) and have never been uttered by any death metal band. Ever.

    • Sorry, guys, I can’t help it. I have to rip into this guy.
      1. “Disturbed, KoRn and Sevendust are some of the most influencial hard-rock bands of our time, and there is no way to deny it.”
Actually, there is a way. Watch closely… I deny it. Boom. Just like that. KoRn, okay, they kicked off the travesty that became nu-metal, but Sevendust? Distrubed? Come on.
2.”KoRn is off-the-wall, but it’s not just some big word from out of nowhere”
It’s not a big word, fine, but it’s out of nowhere. Anyone who’s seen Who Then Now? knows this. I was a fan back in the day. It means nothing.
3.”What the fuck does “Cataclysm” or “Intronaut” have to do with anything?”
Are you serious? So “Disturbed” and “Sevendust” somehow mean more? Explain. I’m a big fan of the Intronaut name (which is NOT FUCKIN’ DEATH METAL) – as opposed to astronaut… get it? Inner exploration?Ahhh forget it.
4.”They’re all good, including In This Moment.”
      I rest my case.

So basically to a lot of people, these bands are pieces of shit, right? And Kataklysm eats them for breakfast….riiighhhtt??? So they eat pieces of shit for breakfast? Sorry, honestly, I mean no direspect to them, I just couldn’t let a Happy Gillmore reference go. But anyway, no I’m not on here every single day, but also, I don’t “troll the internet for Disturbed.” I look for news on a lot of bands from time to time, and sometimes it takes me here, sometimes Blabbermouth or whatever. I stand by everything I said, and I’m sure you all stand by what you said. I’m not attacking Death Metal either….I honestly have a very low appreciation for “metalcore” myself. It’s all exactly the same thing: Fast notes over a blast-beat. But if you like it, cool. I do really like KsE and Threat Signal, but they do different things within the genre. I like bands that have a different, but GOOD sound. Not different just to be different. But I also like what I like, so it doesn’t matter. But anyway, I’m very aware of how KoRn started Nu-Metal……but it wasn’t a travesty until Limp Biznuts came around. We can all agree on that, can’t we? I noticed that nobody cared to “rip into” my observation on how most underground bands have boring stage shows. (Mushroomhead’s stage show is pretty fantastic, so don’t give a “low budget” excuse, please) But anyway, I do sometimes feel like I should stir shit up, because either way, I love Disturbed, a lot of you love whatever else, and at the end of the day, we’re both right. Why so many personal attacks on fans? I’m pretty sure I see just as many chains and dreads at underground metal concerts as any other metal show. Hell, doesn’t Shadow’s Fall’s lead singer have 3-foot dreads? So, fuck it, can’t we all just agree that metal, reguardless of the genre, is where it’s at? So here’s another essay-sized post, that I honestly only posted because I have nothing else to do right now, so I will defend myself a bit. Thanks for reading, by the way, you must just have a morbid curiosity to what I have to say. But I strongly beleive that Disturbed is one of the greats, and I’ll defend it. I’m looking forward to this tour. Thanks.

    • so mjclementz, basically what you’re saying is that you have nothing better to do with the undoubtedly countless hours you spend posting on all of these sites (not even counting the ones you post on because you LIKE them) than to sniff around a virtual world that was actually built for informational purposes in search of things that are almost completely irrelevant to you and you have no interest in whatsoever so that you can tell people (like myself, who will most certainly be at the showing near me, just saying..) just how little it means to you and how much you dislike it… way to go, really sounds like you’ve made something of yourself

<– PS, beamer's taken now, if you wanted that name, TOO BAD. Guess you'll have to live with the fact that I took it for this one meager post. I think beamer1 is still good though :)

Very nice. I’m glad someone else gets it. Yes, there are many people, like I, who aren’t on here every single day saying that they always know everything. I don’t always have the time to post on every little thing, whether it partains to me or not. I state my opinion on here from time to time, especially when I feel strongly about the content. I never did understand why people attack the band’s fanbase, instead of talking about the band itself. But like I said, I stand by my opinions about these bands, and everyone else stands by theirs. @beamer: again, very nicely put. Good to know there’s another fan around here. Yes yes.
