Madball Part Ways With Drummer Jay Weinberg, Stream New Track Online

Madball have parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg. Speaking on the split, band frontman Freddy Cricien offered the following:

“I’m letting Jay go in Canada because I just feel he doesn’t represent this band well on a character level. It would go against my own code of ethics to keep him around. Not saying he’s a bad drummer.

I won’t take that away from him. But the reality is – he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general. Granted, he is a kid, but I’m not sure that he’ll ever be built for this particular lifestyle. I wish him the best of luck, but the MADBALL machine rolls on!”

The band still plan to finish out their ongoing Canadian tour with an as-yet unannounced replacement drummer. In other news, the band have made the title track to their new album “Empire” available for streaming online via Stereokiller. “Empire” will see an October 12th release date.

    • I just got back from seeing them kick off the tour in St. Catharines, ON at L3. I read the news about the split moments before I left for the show. What a surprise when I arrived…they got their former drummer Ben Dussault (ex-Throwdown) to fill in at the drop of a hat apparently. I assume he is filling in for the rest of the Canadian tour. The band seemed quite happy to have him thereand they ripped through tracks from every album and taught a whole bunch of scene kids standing with their arms crossed how it’s done. And I (out of pure luck) had my old rotting, ripped Throwdown shirt on. Perfect show!
