Cynic Begin Writing New Album

Cynic are focusing on their next album and are in the very early stages of writing material for it. Speaking on that and their recent touring, the band offered the following statement:

“Dear Cynic family,

We’d like to thank you guys for making our first ever US headlining tour a great success and a lot of fun for us personally! Not only did we have a great time performing a set list this extensive, there was also a real family vibe going on behind the scenes between us, our crew and the guys from Intronaut and Dysrhythmia.

As we are wrapping up our touring cycle for Traced In Air and Re-Traced with this successful tour, it’s time to get ready for album number 3! The first baby steps into this gigantic process are being taken right now, creating little embryos of songs that will turn into fully fledged CYNIC tunes over the course of the following months, exciting!

All the best,
CYNIC

Can’t speak for their live show, but I have to say they are catchy and very different. At first when I heard about 80% of the vocals are auto-tuned I wanted nothing to do with them, after a few listens though, I’d say they are quickly becoming one of my favorites. I’d liken them to an (approximate) mix of Tool, The Postman Syndrome, and maybe some Children of Nova. I can’t say that the vocals sound like anything I’ve ever heard in the genre though.

I’m very excited to hear what they will sound like in a following album.
I highly recommend that anyone who reads this simply give them a listen at their myspace at least, Adam’s Murmer, The Space For This, and Evolutionary Sleeper are all great songs to start with.

      1. They are not auto-tuned. They are passed through a digital processor. It creates a digital sound and places some harmonics in there.
      2. Their live performances are spotless. Fun fact, I found out my boss likes Cynic. Apparently, he saw them live, and he says they were “amazing.”
      3. LA newspaper reviewed Traced in Air and found that it should be appropriately placed amongst other definitive albums.

know what you are talking about before you say something. please.
