White Pony doesn’t feel 10 years old……wow I feel old. I was actually pissed when they re-released the CD, it was kind of obvious even then that it was for money and the label. I still remember begging my mom to buy Adrenaline for me back when it came out. I couldn’t find it anywhere and when I did, it was like $25, and I was only like 13 or 14 at the time. Life changing CD for me, for sure.

    • dude, I was in the 8th grade when I bought Adrenaline. and the White Pony album changed my outlook on what heavy music could be/ sound/ etc. the fucking tour for that album I saw the deftones and glassjaw opened the show (circa 2000). truly a life changing moment for me in my musical journey to wherever the hell I am now. still a badass disc!

I remember getting the limited edition black and red copies of White Pony with “Boys Republic” on it, thought I was the coolest kid in school. I still to this day have all 4 versions of White Pony on CD, but I’ll probably pass on the re-release since my senseless money blowing days are far in my past.

I remember having the original and re-release w/ Back To School. Wish I would of kept the original…I just gave it away to one of my friends. And shit yeah, I feel old.

I was 19 when this came out, the first show of the White Pony tour was in Philly, that morning there was a record signing at Tower Records (remember them). The album that seperated them from their contemporaries, a classic in every sense of the word.

    • That was indeed an interesting read. It’s always weird when the interviewer is more witty than the interviewee. On another note, I’ve recently been pondering if I still prefer this album over Diamond Eyes. It’s a close call, but I think only more time past will reveal the answer.

I can still remember pedaling my bicycle across town to south-town audio and video to pick this disc up….so hard to believe it has been 10 years. White Pony is a timeless CLASSIC

    • Awesome interview. Brings me back to the time I first heard it, such a beautiful record. It’s cool to see Chino talk about how the label treated it, and the cocaine phase he went through during that time.(laughs) I also like the korn diss at the end haha.

Buying the red special edition of White Pony on release day is almost as memorable as losing my virginity. Plus, it didn’t have the ONLY Deftones song I don’t dig: “Back To School”. I’m glad to hear Chino’s regret of it’s creation.
