Poison The Well Go On Hiatus

Poison The Well have gone on hiatus and offered the following collective statement on their decision to do so:

“Everyone,

So, after twelve years of being a band, countless tours around the world and records being released, we have made the decision to take some time to explore other interests in our lives. We’ve all reached a point where we feel like we need to take a step back from the band and pursue other things. PTW has been an all encompassing, full time thing for such a long period that this isn’t an easy thing to do.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us in anyway, whether it be buying a record or a shirt, to the occasional robbery from time to time. Once again, thanks for everything and we couldn’t have done any of this without you.

Love, PTW”

    • Such an awesome and inspirational band. This is sad news, but it almost feels like the right thing to do even from my (a very long time fan) point of view. They have accomplished so much. Better to end things on a good note.

    • @etid I totally and completely agree with you. These guys are all about the craft and know exactly what they are doing. Although this is not for sure the end of PTW, they have made some great music… and perhaps even more importantly, they made more than a few records. The legacy of this great band is secured.

I’m not bummed. These guys have given us years of great music. I’d rather see them do this, then carry on, and become a joke of themselves. 12 years of awesome music, and I appreciate every minute of it. Peace PTW.

very sad..i’ve listened to PTW for years, and they were one of the few bands who never became stale. just one hell of a remarkable band. seen them 7 times and each show was better than the previous.

      ;(

    • Fucking Detroit killed this band, I can’t imagine how much money they lost as a result of literally almost all their equipment being stolen, so fucking lame. Anyway amazing band, I’ve been listening to poison the well for around 10 years and I’ll miss these guys so much. I agree though they have branched out so much from their first album I couldn’t imagine where they would turn next.

I dont believe that detroit influenced their decision at all! I had the chance to talk to jeff after a show last year and he said that he is financially set for the rest of his life. These guys busted ass for over a decade. Always touring and doing it economically. I’ve seen them about a dozen times, and more times than not they were getting around in a van, not a luxurious tour bus. He told me they sleep in 2 or 3 star hotels that they book on priceline .com for 40 bucks a night. They did shit their way (the right way) and will reap the benefits. -NEW BANDS TAKE NOTICE ! To write albums as awesome and subjective as the tropic rot, sufficient time is required. They’re not, nor have they ever been the type to shit an album out to meet a quota like unearth or god forbid did. And if you really pay attention to the tropic rot you’ll understand that the end is coming for ptw. Poison the Well is and will always be my favorite band right next to Pantera. At least there is hope that at anytime ptw will play more shows in the future. By the way, fuck detroit anyway.
