Music sounds great. Chino’s voice sounded SUPER over processed on Diamond Eyes tho. Still good.
Deftones = bad assness =D
Some observations:
1) the dudes circle-pitting during “Diamond Eyes” are hilarious. WTF? Every song now? Really?
2) Chino’s little dance move at 1:45 on “Diamond Eyes” is also classic
3) Both songs sound super great, and honestly this is probably the best Deftones have sounded live since Around the Fur era. They sound fucking spectacular, it’s been like 6 years since I’ve seen them live, I need to go again.
saw them last week in OKC…they are ridiculous live.
I saw them live in Atlanta at the Tabernacle for the Around The Fur tour and then again for the White Pony tour. They played with Glassjaw. Both put on spectacular shows =) Only show i’ve seen better is Soilwork live. THAT is something to see and i’m a HUGE deftones fan.
Yea I def agree with you guys…they sound awesome. Chino fuckin kills it at the end of Diamond Eyes, lol.
I think Abe packed on what? 150bs? geezus, get that guy a bib as he drums
Talk about blind faith. The only song I cared about was Change and I cut it after 1:20, not good at all. And LOLZ @ the drummer.
they kill live, seen them many times. been in my top ten (which being the hardcore whore i am thats shocking) since i bought their first disc back in like 97 because the cover looked cool to my then 8th grade eyes. if you have yet to see them live, do it already! good stuff
i also saw the white pony tour with glassjaw. that was a magical fuckin’ evening to say the least.
ps. i agree, abe needs a bib. and i’d say he put on bout 200bs. he was always the skinny one, even during chino’s fat days.
Chino is wearing high waters again. I love these guys, but if this is a new fashion trend, I’m not buying into it. I’m a firm believer in the hem of my pants at least touching the sole of my shoe.
^ ya but now you can see his super cool 80s vans hightops
Saw them on Family Values in 06 and they sucked. Chino has never in his life been able to pull off his vocals live. Not quite sure why everyone’s so quick to say how great or god-like the performance is when in fact, it’s highly average, if not below-average, for a band their caliber.
@cma3585 your an idiot
everyone has off nights.
seriously, they need to go by Bon Jovi rules, the scab bassist shouldn’t be shown at all. He’s not a full member of the band
I think Chino gave all the weight he lost to Abe. But regardless good shit.
Delightful.
@cma3585 you actually paid to go to family values 06 and are complaining about deftones? yeah, i’m sure stone sour and flyleaf blew deftones out of the water right?….dumbfuck.
and on a side note, I caught Deftones in Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago and it was hands down the best performance i’ve seen from them in the past decade.
@wyldweasil – well, he did do all of the recordings for Diamond Eyes….
The Deftones played Taste of Chaos a few years ago, I stayed long enough for Thrice and then left to beat the traffic. Partly because I really didn’t need to see them, partly because I had a girlfriend at the time that was only a fan of radio rap (50 Cent’s “It’s Your Birthday” comes to mind as being one of her favorites at the time).
I’ve seen Deftones twice. First time Chino was terrible and drunk. Second time he was amazing and coked out. Moral of the story kids, do coke, don’t drink
seen them 6 times. But I have to say they sound better live then they did during the taste of chaos tour. They really did not sound too good during that tour or any tour from SNW.
I have seen deftones 14 times, and for me the SNW tour when they played out here, was the best performance from them I’d seen. Chino’s vocals sounded great and the set list was killer.
Chino doesnt do coke.
Chino has done his fair share of coke.
Nope.
Soap on a rope.
Btw..Aries….what was the name of the band you rated as being an album…oh wait…got it….LetLive.
The Jimmy Kimmel performance was tight. When I saw deftones in 07 (SNW tour) it was the best i’ve ever seen them flat out. Beat any live recording(big day out, pinkpop, bootlegs etc.) or any other time I’ve seen them. It was an intimate small venue with the tones playing their best shiit with a cool screen in the background showing some chic get naked. So initimate and so tight!
Chino used to do ALOT of coke with the guy from pinback, and especially did alot with weiland and the other tons members during the white pony days.(I think that’s why weiland was on the whtie pony album) Actually later on after the self titled came out, chino became very anti social. I understand that the four years between the self titled and SNW chino got into speed. He would lock himself in a bathroom and do speed. He made a comment in an interview just before SNW came out saying that “coke is nothing, you can cut out coke alot easier than you can speed.” He never got as bad as Head from Korn, but he did do those drugs.
Get your facts straight….Weiland, Scott Weiland(?) never appeared on White Pony. He’s never appeared on any Deftones records.
Unfortunately Surly you are incorrect….
from LAST.FM Deftones – Rx Queen [ft. Scott Weiland] (4:27)

FROM wiki Scott Weiland – additional vocals (on “RX Queen”)

RX Queen
“The most futureistic sounding song. Abe and I created the drum loop – its a crazy, bionic rhythm. I wrote a seedy guitar line over it, and worked with Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) on the vocals for the bridge.
There also might be something in the cd booklet aswell. You can also faintly hear Weiland on the track if you listen closely.
@NdR23 – I stand corrected. How presumptuous of me. Apologizes.
