The Damned Things Add Every Time I Die Bassist To Their Lineup

The Damned Things have added Josh Newton of Every Time I Die fame to their lineup as their new bassist. He replaces David Karron, who previously held the position. As previously reported, the band, who also feature Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley along with members of Anthrax and Fall Out Boy, recently posted rough mixes of two new songs online via their Myspace. A new album from the group is being prepared for a release through Island/Def Jam.

    • Pretty fun, but not much of a surprise really. Straight forward rock, with a slight southern-twang and a whiskey-soaked party time feel to it all. Textbook Keith Buckley.

    • Yeah, but unlike He Is Legend they can actually plays the songs live like they were originally recorded. I don’t know why He Is Legend would never bring a second guitarist out just on tour but it always pissed me off that I would only get to hear half of the guitar tracks played live. Still love that band though. Last album was great.

Anyway, I really dig the two rough tracks. Enough to the point where I can let go of my hatred for Scott Ian for a brief moment. God I hate that VH1 douche. Also, glad to see another “supergroup” that doesn’t make me want to give up on music (i.e. Chickenfoot, HELLYEAH!)

    • My super-group would include Chris Martin, Bono, Chad Kroeger, Santana and Billie Joe Armstrong. Yes, I’d have 4 singers/guitartists, one solo guitarist and me playing FX from my iPhone. Who’d want to give up on that!? Music is saved thanks to me.

      .
@anti-dentite bastard – I would pay to see that…from a great distance. Also Simpsons reference with the saxomophone?

My supergroup would include Surly’s Iphone, Ganglors wit, and anti-dentite bastards back up band of ICP (backup dancers, rappers), Kid Rock (guitars, harmonica), Meg (giant forehead) White (drums). Garey Busey would take a backseat to my clarinet skills however. We would do covers of Janes Addiction, Bachman Turner Overdrive, and Sigur Ros. We would only tour in Southeast Asia, and our rider would have to include loads of twinkies and ring pops. Jealous?

@adamonfire – The man hasn’t had an “original” hit since his Devil Without A Cause album. Working with Sheryl Crow doesn’t exactly help much either. And we have him to blame for Uncle Kracker’s existence. Also he’s a pretty big douche (not as big of one as Scott Stapp but still). Us trusting him with guitar and harmonica duties if anything is giving him way too much credit
      .
@Aries Veil – Oh fuck yes! Cause you know I’ll be taking care of business every God damn day!
      .
@anti-dentite bastard – Glad to know it’s safe to throw out some Simpson’s references now and know that they won’t go totally unnoticed
