downthesun Announce Their Return

downthesun have decided to reunite with the following press release issued to announce their return:

“The rumors are true! We are in the process of getting everyone together to meet and discuss what to do for the rest of the year. Our 2002 s/t release is going to be or is already out of print and we have been talking about re-recording it, much like Exodus did with “Bonded By Blood“.” said vocalist Aaron Peltz.

“We don’t know yet about tours, labels, or anything like that. We just want to get everyone in the same room which hasn’t happened since the Soulfly tour ended in 2002. Lance “Kuk” Collier added, “You can expect the same things you love or hate about downthesun and yes there will be more new material.

I’m sure the old songs will evolve just like we have as artists. People are still listening to us after 7 years so that says a lot. We have stood the test of time even though we are without a label with no promotion except for word of mouth from our loyal and true underground fans.”

Loved these guys, they blew my mind when they first came out, But word to the wise guys…if youre going to re-record your ST debut, please feel free to come up with less retarded lyrics for the sing “scapegoat”. Horribly simplistic lyrics to that song.

They have definitely NOT stood the test of time. That album is about as dated as they come. A perfect snapshot of the over-saturation of nu metal.

@ Fender – totally, except that I thought Apt26 had more going for it than the rest of those bands – Music for the Massive was a nice listen

Fender you were almost correct with the exception of primer 55 and ESPECIALLY flaw, none of those are shit metal and neither is downthesun. and they HAVE stood the test of time, only for their loyal fans. if you want to lump them in with other nu-metal bands just because its easier for you, you are being ignorant. Nu-metal is not as bad a genre as everyone makes it out to be, and downthesun were one of the better nu-metal bands, I am glad they are back. Forget Limp Dizzick…THIS is a comeback:)

    • I’m excited to hear of the dts comeback. they threw the idea up in ’03 but quickly moved on to other stuff so this is pretty awesome. Glad to see Arron’s back and hoping to see Satone as well. From the bottom of my heart, good luck downthesun!!!

    • what’s wrong with the groups ICP tours with? Or them for that matter. They always seem to have decent opening acts on their shows. they be-friended hedpe after the gathering in ’09. all music is good to at least 1 person in the world

I will cave and say that when i listen to that album these days, it does sound dated, but anything that was put out almost 10 years ago does. They were very good for their time, but if they want to reunite and be relevant again they need to step up their sound a bit. SATONE! SATONE! SATONE!

    • I’ll admit it sounds a bit dated at times, and the vocal performances often careen into cheesy, over-the-top psychodrama, but that’s part of the charm. I will proudly, and without hesitation, proclaim that I love the SHIT out of the s/t album. Always have, ever since I bought it the day of its release in October of ’02. At the time, it was one of my anticipated new artists. Amazing how time flies! I’m excited to hear about this too. It’d be interesting if they actually pulled an Exodus and re-recorded the album.

This band was more like third tier nu-metal. “People are still listening to us after 7 years so that says a lot” LOL. Whoever told these guys that people still listen to their album is full of shit. If they re-record the album they’d be lucky to sell a hundred copies of it (including family members). Trust me, I was a nu-metal fanatic, and even I never got into this one.

Not sure about labels?? I’m sure Roadrunner won’t have any problem bringing them back into the fold, seeing as how they still support all the trite nu-metal bullshit that they did when downthesun was around the first time.

I have this band’s album and I enjoyed it 10 years ago. Did it stand the test of time? No. Currently, I have no idea where this album is or if I’ll ever find it again. More than likely, it’s in a box collecting dust and mouse feces along with Primer 55, Shuvel, Limp Bizkit, a couple of Machine Head albums, Relative Ash and Godsmack. There were, however, a couple of shining stars on that album. “Lucas Toole”…good tune.

This “release” is hilarious. These dude were bottom of the barrel D-List Nu Metal at their absolute PEAK! The only reason ANYONE gave a fuck is cuz they were a band full of Slipknot Roadies, Cousins & Brothers. Get fuckin’ real.

I for one am glad dts is back. as for the people talking shit i am betting to guess that most of them post on the prp board. if you go on that board there are threads 10 pages long talking about how The Bled whose a shitty ass screamo band, Every time I die is ok post hardcore band who decided to rip off Glassjaw and, Taproot equipped with whining ass Fred Durst vocals are good bands. i will take songs fom dts “medicated”, “we all die”, Enslaved”, “jar”, “six”, “Pitiful” and, “lost” over any of those bands.

@Surly- its obvious that not all of us pretty much move with the crowd and group ourselves with what everyone currently likes, i think its fair to say that anyone who likes this band after just one album that was released some 8 years ago is a genuine fan.
