36 Crazyfists are nearly done tracking their new album which is being produced by band guitarist Steve Holt. The effort will land in stores on July 27th through Ferret Music with more details to be announced shortly. In the meantime, the band have offered the following update:
“ITS been like forever since we have touched base with any of you. We wanted to send out an update and let you know we are nearly finished with the recording of our new album. It has been quite a journey creating these new songs and we are excited for everyone to hear them..We started writing this album in early November in Anchorage and finished writing right around mid March.
Thomas started Drum tracking early April and Holt has not only produced this one again but he also handeled all the guitars and bass on this effort. Which leaves us to Brock, Who is knee deep in the vocals as this is being written and Hopes to be finishing up in the next few days.
The new album will be released on July 27th through Ferret Music again. The new album title and Cover artwork will be released very soon as well. We are very excited to be hitting the European festivals in June and can’t wait to see all our friends. We are hitting the US starting July 7th in Los Angeles and cruising up into Canada, {which We are super stoked about, WE LOVE CANADA!!!] …Well the touring Machine is getting prepared to start relentlessly moving again and we can’t wait to see you guys at the shows.
Thank You for everything you guys have given us over the last 16 years, We love you all!!! P.s. We are playing a warm up show on June 5th in Portland, Oregon at the Bossanova Ballroom with a bunch of our friends, so if your in the area come hang, its been awhile…Respect, 36CF”

Bitterness The Star was a great album, then these guys went more straight forward, and it’s been kinda ‘meh’ for me ever since.
snow capped romance, was by far their best record… best mixing and recording job also. hopefully they get back to whoever the hell mixed that record…. everything after would have sounded ten folds better if it was mixed and mastered correctly/better.
big fan of these dudes… def. wanna hear some new shit….
name change test? booom!
Yep, I still rate Snow Capped Romance as a great record. Definitely their best to date.
Alaska’s Finest
I really got into these guys with Snow Capped Romance. Then, Rest Inside the Flames was kind of lame. But I think they redeemed themselves with the last album, The Tide And It’s Takers was amazing. Really hoping this is up there as well.
The Tide and It’s Takers was top shelf, hopefully it’s along the same lines, maybe a little heavier. I love every album this band has put out since Bitterness. Very excited, especially now they are off Roadrunner. I might have to take the 10 hour drive to Portland to see these guys.
Tide and It’s Takers was their weakest effort, still badass… but I could do without their acoustic songs and lighter stuff. This however, is exciting news.
I agree with Surly, A Snow Capped Romance was their best. I hope they can get back to the production on that album. But all their albums are good. They never have disappointed, but I do hope they do something new and a little different this time around so their stuff doesn’t start to sound the same. Stoked.
The production values on A Snow…are killer hey. Nearly every track on that release packs a punch and then the moodier, slower songs have a dense, deep textured feel to them. I do recall being highly impressed by these elements when I first picked this up. How good is ‘Kenai’!?
