Using the same cover as the first cd? Fucking really…they should be ashamed.
I think this might be the closest we get to them back in the Ross days but the sad part is it sounds like the Brenden O’Brien and Michael Bienhorn cd’s…
I’m still a bit confused to how I use to think this band was amazing.

It has nothing to do with the first 2 records. Generic riffs with an awful guitar sound, generic drums, and a self-indulgent singer. I kinda hoped KoRn would improve, but it keeps getting worse every time. Just bring back head, and stop ruining your career guys !

It sounds nothing like their 1st or 2nd album. Guitar sounds pretty lame. However, still sounds better than their recent albums(SYOTOS, Untitled). Might give it a shot when the album comes out. They seriously need Head back in the band, that’s for sure.

one thing that sucks about being a band that has been around over a decade is everyone thinks you suck for doing 1 thing or other. but for anyone who has followed them since 1994-1996 when self titled & life is peachy came out would recongize the sample here prob sounds the best it since follow the leader. i live right next to a venue and see national acts come in every week but ive never seen anyone rock it like korn, they just need to get away from all this outdoor bullshit and get back to arenas and small venues

    • production/recording wise… this is korns – st anger
      that snare sounds fuckin TERRIBLE
the guitars have no fuckin balls what so ever
      the bass is standard
but come the fuck on… take some lessons from Suicide Silence… their 7 string, heavy sound should be exactly what these tracks need

    • What the hell are ya’ll complaining about? If KoRn continued that experimental bullshit you’d be even more annoyed. This sounds way better than anything they’ve done in a long time. They will never be what they were… get over it. Me, I am excited that they are back on a decent track and aren’t trying to sound lame and can’t wait to have something break up the current rock/metal scene where the majority of stuff sounds the same. You can’t deny, they have a signature sound!

    • I actually liked the first track a lot. Had a fun little groove to it. The other two tracks were pretty weak though, especially the third track (The Past). On “The Past” the guitar just sounds really weak and I think I actually heard the guitar effect used on Limp Bizkit’s song “Boiler” which isn’t a bad thing but just associates this song with being dated in my mind.

    • ah yes, how many times will we be duped into the whole “this one is gonna sound like our first album, we’re going back to our roots, man!” BS. this sounds nothing like their first album (which is one of my favorite albums of all time); the vocals, bass, guitar… definitely sound like their more modern crap like issues and after that even.. they lost me for sure there. too bad this does not sound anything like it was promised… but then again, as said, how many times have we heard that same story? disappointment here, big time.

Not even Ross can save these guys from what they’ve become. If they got Head and David back in the band, and wrote an album together I might be interested. Until then….I’d rather just make fun of them.

Issues will always be the best of korns albums I think, and this new stuff sounds a step up from ANY thing korn or ex Korn members have done in the last 10 years! korns ripping it up again on these new songs, there a “band” again.

So, I’m the only one in the world that thinks this stuff is exponentially better than their last 2 or 3 albums? I actually DO think it sounds pretty close to their first album except for Jon’s vocals.

      Yeah, yeah…bring on the hate…

I like it. You can’t confuse “going back to our old sound” with “rewriting the first album.” It does have that signature Ross sound to it, to me I pick up little bits of everything from the first album through Untouchables. There is some real ignorance going on here. BTW, Suicide Silence should never be mentioned within a paragraph of Korn either.

Not saying they sound like Korn, they are just the new generation’s band like Korn…really crunchy seven strings guitars used in a ‘new (used very loosely) way that all the kids that are 14 are eating up at the moment..
Too me the transcition has gone…Korn…Slipknot…Suicide Silence…just my opinion tho…I’m not saying they sound musically the same at all tho.

There’s some closed minded fool in here. I’ll admit that it doesn’t sound like their first two albums but it does sound much better than that utter trash untitled album and SYOTOS. If you like it listen to the damn album if you don’t like it move on with your life. You bitching and moaning like a little prissy school girl bitch that needs there diaper changed will not warrant anything nor will anyone care at the end of the night. The album sounds like it is going to sound regardless if you like it or bitch about it.

First off, I do like the cover art. And I do appreciate the direction they are trying to go with this. Especially with Ross Robinson back on board. But the execution is just not there….it all sounds lazy with a bunch of recycled grooves and riffs, and the lyrics seem all too typical as well focusing on typical teenage angst. I’m not 17 anymore so I need more. And I agree with you Aries, with David and Head gone the band is really suffering. There are layers to their material from Life Is Peachy, Issues and Untouchables that are no where to be found here. I really wanted to like this, but even the mix sucks. The guitar tone and drum tones are also pretty crappy. I think a lot of us were ready to give Korn another chance since we’re sick of all the typical metalcore, deathcore and Limp Bizkit being shoved down our throats, but Korn just couldn’t come through with that walk off homer in the bottom of the 9th. Game over.

Definitely better than the last two albums, does anyone else think “Take A Look In The Mirror” was decent? I think that was the closest they came to their “old sound”. I’ll reserve judgement until the album is released, but unless these are the worst songs on the album, I think I’ve been let down again. It’s starting to look like Head was the talent. Munky’s a sideman, David sucked after the first two albums, Ray Luzier is a definite upgrade, Fieldy is Fieldy, Jonathan needs a drink

This is definatly the record they “needed” to make. Just like “Mirror” was and after Issues and untouchables fans were sick of hearing the band try to experiment so much, they just wanted the straight ahead in your face korn style and that was clearly evident on that album, korn has been straying away from the sound that most people wanna hear, and now it sounds like there back, this is a album for the fans though, so if your still not sold on if you like korn or not just give up on them already and find something else to listen to, korn will be fine without your support

I don’t see how Issues was so experimental. I think it was the logical next step after Follow the Leader. Issues will always be the pinnacle of their songwriting ability. Similar to how Aenima will always be Tools pinnacle. They haven’t really written any memorable songs since Issues, and ‘Here to Stay’, ‘Twisted Transistor’, and ‘Coming Undone’ are just rehased riffs from older songs. I don’t even know if they had a single off Untitled, because to be honest I listened to the record once and deleted it off Itunes. The fact is, this album just sounds like rehased material from the Selftitled/Life Is Peachy days, and that’s not what I was looking for. It’s too bad they couldn’t grow further from the sound they developed on Issues.
