Definitely better than anything off of their last album. The bass in the song was reminiscent of old KoRn. There definitely were some parts I felt like I was going back in time. Hope the rest of the album is good if not better than that song. I’m really hoping for some screaming like he did on Take a Look In The Mirror. If not I still know it’s gonna be better than Untitled.

I was looking forward to hearing this after reading that they teamed back up with Ross Robinson, but I’m simply not impressed at all. Like James above me said, the bass in the song sounded good, but that’s about it. The guitar seems a bit empty since they only have one guitarist now, it wasn’t hooky/catchy to me, and I didn’t like Davis’ ranting in the bridge.

      Meh

Yeah it’s like there’s something missing like maybe another guitarist or something. I think after a few listens the chorus will get in my head.

I hope the rest of the album lives up to the hype though.

About as good as I expected, sounds like it could’ve been a b-side to Take A Look In The Mirror. Not really well mixed at all, the guitars are so buried in the mix, and the vocals, although raw, are too cleanly produced. The worst part is how shitty the fucking drums sound. It sounds like Bob Rock produced it. This song gets a 2 out of 5 stars. Sorry Korn, epic fail.

This song is actually better than I thought it would be…I guess when this album comes out I will give a shot after all…and if I like what I hear I might buy it…have to wait and see though…Korn have really dissapointed me as of late…this time around they just might redeem themselves imo.

korn have definatly redeeemed themselves, and especially for the fact that Munky did all the guitar work, theyve been talking about going back to there roots for some time now and I truly believe they are going to prove it this time around, theyve proven to me they can make it without david silveria and brian “head” welch, finally!

Korn does not sound the same without “head”. its a huge disappointment in my opinion. There’s still a piece missing to the puzzle…

    • wow i must say, this is the only Korn song i’ve actually dug alot since Issues came out in 1999, kudos to them, i’m curious to hear this album after hating the last 3 or 4 (i’ve since lost track)

nu-metal is really coming back it seems, but somehow it feels fresh which is great

If nu-metal comes back in such a way that it gets rid of emo completely i am all for it. Nu-metal>emo…any day of the week.

yeah thats true that korns not the same without head, but heads also not the same without korn, if they really wanna be one of the greatest bands of all time again they all need eachother, if the 5 members of korn got together again and truly wanted to make music then amazing things could happen!
Its evident to me why they got desperate towards the end and released songs like “word up” “twisted transistor” not because they wanted to make a hit it was because the band was falling apart and 2 of the members left the band, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, family issues, creative issues…there back on top now BECAUSE the members that are still in the band TRULY wanna be there.

@james deceit I thought “Take A Look In The Mirror” was the best album they did in a long time, those screaming parts gave me hope that Korn might get that old sound back. Then “Untitled” dropped… Anyways I hoping Ross being back at the helm will get out what little fire is left in Jon’s belly, and remind him that he CAN’T SING!

While I agree they could use Head back, Korn’s better off with Ray Luzier then David. I don’t know what happened but after Life Is Peachy David’s drumming completely sucked. I remember when he got injured and Mike Bordin had to fill in for him. Maybe his wrist just got THAT fucked up, because anything after Follow the Leader was completely amateur

Love how he sings the verses sounds very old-school sounding, no fucking falsetto, if he screamed the chorus it would have sounded a lot better. The bridge to the last chorus could have used a little more emotion too. All in all still better then 90% of the shit they’ve done recently

@jay I agree the bridge is kind of “out there” jd cant seem to get his words to flow together and the guitar sounds really trippy…and yeah silveria was always a “solid” drummer but he was never a professional, the only thing he was a pro at was drinking beer lol

Yeah KoRn drank to no end on the first 3 albums. They were all drunk throughout the recording of Follow The Leader. Maybe they should do that for the new album. But Jon hasn’t had a drink in 12 years though. That’s pretty insane I thought 4 months was an accomplishment lol.

Thats why I like Ray Luzier as korns drummer, hes a proffesional and he puts the music first, sure theres nothing wrong with drinking and relaxing and having a good time but you gotta put your love for music first or you wont get to far, Ray studied percussion and graduated from musicians institute and later even returned to teach there as an instructor, and hes toured with david lee roth and army of anyone before becoming an official member in korn, I think every band needs a member like ray cause hes the real deal and he will surely challenge you to become a better player.

Boring song. I wish i liked it, but it’s just a pathetic attempt at recapturing the old sound. Munky is just not a good riff writer.

@Taione, Jon’s lyrics are terrible, and he has no concept of melody, the only thing he had was emotion and that sick-ass scream and he doesn’t even have them anymore

‘Korn’ is lost and beyond repair, teaming up with Ross Robinson again was the last chance for them to redeem themselves, but if this is what the new album will sound like, the party is still over (as it has been since 1999…).

I must say, this sounds promising. While not what’d I’d hope for exactly, at least they are steering away from the experimental shit… Let Deftones do experimental shit… Anxious to hear what the rest of this album sounds like.

Now, I will retire to my chambers to savagely whip my own back for sinning so deeply.

Oildale is a census-designated place in Kern County, California, United States. Oildale is located 3.5 miles north-northwest of downtown Bakersfield(Where all the member of korn are from) at an elevation of 469 feet The population was 27,885 at the 2000 census. It is an unincorporated suburban town just north of Bakersfield across the Kern River, west of the Kern River Oilfield, and east of Highway 99.

I think thats one of the reasons they used a k in there name, and kern sounds alot like korn, interesting, Bakersfield is also in Kern county.

I lived in Bakersfield for two weeks. Didn’t take me long to realize I needed to get the fuck out of there. Ended up an hour down the road. And it’s not much better here.

after hearing nothing but live versions of this song, waiting for the real thing I am in many words….IMPRESSED. Korn sounds back in full swing and being a fan for 16yrs now I support them in any situation in their career. The drums rumble hard, the bass is clicky and crunchy(old school), the guitars distorted with good measure, and Jonathan Davis is more focused and pissed off than ever before!!!! July 13th…get here…NOW!!!!!!!
