Chevelle is a gret fucking band, my three favorite bands are KoRn, chevelle and blink 182(KoRn being far above any other band). I would say those are pretty diverse, so just because someone loves chevelle doesnt mean they only listen to bands like chevelle and Puddle of Mudd.. I dont care too much for Shinedown(I liked their 1st album), but i would say this is a great lineup.. I have to see Chevelle and Ive been wanting to see 10 years for a while. Im not sure why people feel the need to argue over things like this, like on youtube and chat boards and stuff, especially when were all fans of generally the same thing, admonfire said he liked death metal and everything, I hate saying we all should just get along cause that sounds gay, but lets join together and hate rap instead!
and Aries Veil this wasn’t really aimed at you, I was just wondering what kind of work you do, it sounded pretty awesome. Im in college right now doing my basics and can”t figure out a major.

As a matter-of-fact, I am the GA for Marketing & Special Events within our department – prior to this I did virtually everything associated with aquatics for 6 years. @Aries Veil – Dude, he said “Recreational Sports department” so let’s use the term “educated” lightly here, man. When I was in university, those were the dudes with the Affliction shirts getting arrested because they beat the tar out of someone that didn’t like their school’s sports teams. I’m not trying to generalize or stereotype or anything, but aside from the Communications majors, the Kinesiology (and related field) students were the Epsilons of the university. (Hopefully, you people have read “Brave New World” so you’ll understand that reference.)

@pbc – Wow, man. I would have expected better than a petty childish retort. “Take your own advice and shut up”? Well, all I can say is I’m rubber and you’re glue, man…

P.S. – I’m pretty sure that if you asked any music genre guru/elitist, they would classify Sevendust as nu-metal. Thanks for coming out, pbc. Enjoy your rides on the shortbus.

It’s a tad late now, but The Haunted are one of my favorite bands and I don’t care for Cannibal Corpse at all. Maybe when I was 13 I might have liked Cannibal Corpse just for the shock value of their name, but when I was 13, I was listening to good music instead.

@adamonfire, I’m glad you’re an educated person, and I am not making fun of you specifically, as i can tell that you may be thinking that is the case. To be blunt, I just plain don’t find anything interesting or worthwhile about the artists on this tour. I could name 50 bands off the top of my head that would be far more entertaining and interesting, and stimulating to watch. These bands have been consistently writing the same albums over, and over again and for this fact alone I criticize anyone who defends them to the death for their music. If you’re simply a fan, and you love them, and you want to see them, then good for you. Who am I to judge. Opinions are like assholes right?

@Aries Veil – I’m actually quite the opposite of what you assumed – I’m a Graduate Assistant within the Recreational Sports department of my university and am just about half-way to obtaining my MBA, which isn’t too shabby considering I’m 23. I’m a lot more Warped Tour than I am Ozzfest, I’ll be the first one to admit it. But my musical tastes are all over the place within rock; from hardcore/”emocore”/”screamo”/etc. to metal to classic rock to alternative to acoustic to punk to post-hardcore, etc. If it’s GOOD, I listen to it. So yeah, I’ll be at Mayhem Fest, Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Taste of Chaos, etc. – I enjoy it all.

@Bitter Old Man – I merely brought them up because while I insulted Cannibal Corpse, I still enjoy some music within the genre. I just think CC is one of the most overrated bands out there, and people listen to them because “they’re fuckin’ metal”.

Okay Chevelle, Sevendust, and 10 Years are all great bands, neither of which are nu-metal in the slightest fuckin degree…but even if they were who the hell cares? They are all good bands, end of fuckin story. Shinedown…only their first album was good…and Puddle of Mudd…I pretty much stopped caring about them a long time ago.

@B.O.M., LOL! Yes I have a job my friend, i’m actually at it right now! It allows me a lot of personal freedoms, including using the internet for prolonged periods of time. I don’t have a boss, I work alone, and I have my own time frame in order to complete my work. It really is the best job ever, as it allows me to listen to music for 8 hours a day, and that’s something that I love. @adamonfire: I’m glad to hear you like bands like Black Dahlia and The Haunted cuz I love both of those bands myself. But that just baffles me even more that you don’t like Cannibal Corpse since those bands are heavily rooted in that exact style. And I’m just yet even more baffled that you even brought up these bands in a thread about these alternative metal bands that are completely different. Just doesn’t make sense. Are you next going to compare Shinedown to BB King and the WuTang Clan???

@adamonfire, Man i’m not going to waste my time debating whether Sevendust, or Chevelle are nu metal with you or anyone else. The fact of the matter is that i’m tired of the same tours, with the same goddamn bands, that all sound the same. Whoa! Whoa buddy! take a deep breathe and lets not get nerd raging on me! When I say that these bands all sound the same, what I really mean is that Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd, Sevendust, Shinedown, etc, they all share a very similar rock style. Heavy guitars, melodic vocals, and verse choruse verse style breakdowns. Who knows what the blueprint for ‘nu metal’ really is anyways, is it Linkin Park? Cause you can’t sit there and tell me that shit off ‘Meteora’ doesn’t share similar stylings to anything off the last 2 Chevelle records. Ok, no DJ, no overproduction, but I think almost everyone would agree most people who are into LP, are likely into Chevelle. I group all those bands from 1998-2003 together and I call all of it nu metal. The bands who cropped up after the original bands (Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, (hed)pe, etc) got it started in the mid 90′s. Now, the point I wanted to make with my original post is pretty simple. I’m tired of all of these ‘Rock’ tours that feature all of these washed up bands who sound the same, and don’t offer anything in the way of originality. For you, or anyone else on this website to suggest that what I am saying isn’t true, or holds merit is really lacking in terms of musical diversity. I realize it’s somewhat hypocritical for me to say this while on theprp.com which has been the spearhead for the nu metal/metal core/alternative rock movement for the past 10 + years, but I think if you didn’t grow past fucking Chevelle and Sevendust since this website got started, then it’s more than likely you’re still wearing your Korn basketball jersey to Community College, and sharing your Double Gulp of Dr.Pepper with your other D&D buddies every Thursday night. Maybe that’s your thing, maybe not, but i just want to express my (and likely your parents) dissappointment in your lack of growth as a person, and a music fan.

There we go. Sounds like we’re starting to get along. Even though I’d run through Québec traffic before seeing this tour, I do have the first couple Chevelle albums (Point, and… uh… you know, the other one) and despite not being in regular rotation, I still consider them part of my collection, which I’m very proud of and will defend to the death. I’ve got the first 2 Sevendust albums in there too – 1st one: freakin’ awesome (yes, still), 2nd: okay, 3rd: jumped off the wagon. Anyways, I don’t think any backlash was aimed at me, but just to say, I love more bands that come from YeeHaw, USA, than Scandinavia. So I myself am not an elitist. I prefer the term “connoisseur”, oui? If that makes me an elitist in itself, c’est la vie.

I’m not “scared” of Cannibal Corpse, I’ve seen them live too – and they sucked, Behemoth was way better. The Haunted is one of the other bands I want to see the most, and they have the versatility to play within such genres. I also think I give The Black Dahlia Murder more credit than what they deserve just because they are from Detroit, my home Metro area. Brent from Shinedown has an amazing voice, and they are by far one of the best bands to see live in terms of quality from a live performance compared to how they sound on a record. You would be surprised how much sound comes out of the three dudes in Chevelle, and Puddle of Mudd is just a “get drunk, have fun” kind of band. And Sevendust is bad ass Sevendust….. pending my listening to their new album.
