Bring Me The Horizon Comment On Recording Of New Album

As recently reported, Bring Me The Horizon have entered Studio Fredman in Sweden to begin recording their upcoming new album with producer Fredrik Nordstom (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames). The group are now plotting an August release date for the as-yet untitled new outing. In the meantime, band frontman Oli Sykes offered the following on it:

“2009 was one hell of a year, non-stop for us really! Our second album Suicide Season has taken us further than we ever thought was possible. I think we found our unique sound with that album and the next is going to be using Suicide Season as a base, but pushing it further in every single way imaginable. It’s happening with Fredrick Nordström again, since he made us sound so amazing last time – all very exciting, stay tuned!”

Meanwhile, band guitarist Jona Weinhofen checked in with the following:

“We’ve spent the last few months writing new material for the 3rd album and we are stoked as hell on what we’ve penned! This will also be my first recording with the band and I’m definitely excited to be working on something new and so different to my previous works.

We’ve taken in a broad array of influences during the writing period and I think it will show on this album more than ever before. Fans can expect new ideas, experimentation and more adventurous production. We’ve really focused on our song structures and keeping the songs catchy and listenable. But don’t freak out! It’s still the BMTH you know and love, and there will be plenty of heavy, fast riffing and plenty of breakdowns to keep your fists pounding and your heads banging!”

The group will have a series of webisodes from the sessions available online over the course of the coming months. Furthermore, they have already mapped out plans to film videos for two new tracks from the release next month in Copenhagen, Denmark with director Jakob Printzlau (Turboweekend, Kashmir). In the interim, the band will release a deluxe 2xCD/1xDVD edition of their latest outing “Suicide Season” on April 13th via Epitaph.

Again, to each their own, but I didn’t mind ‘Suicide Season’, and to be 100% honest, I enjoyed the remix album a lot. That being said, I’m the first person to admit that these guys are more about fashion than substance, but that being said everyone used to worship Slipknot, and those fags wore costumes and masks. Neck Tattoo’s and Emo Hair are simply the new Jumpsuits and Masks. Get used to it.

I think you’re on your own here Aries Veil. I’m guessing you fall into their target audience of emo/wannbe hipster high school kids.
And no, I will not get used to emo hair.

    • It’s funny how everyone loves to talk shit about BMTH. Every time there is a post on here bout them it gets comments. I really don’t understand why they are hated by these people that act as if they’re elitists.

No, these guys are not original and no they do not have a unique sound, but they are good at the metalcore genre. Last I checked, this place has always been about “scene” music. You may dislike BMTH, but if you’re checking this site regularly it’s pretty much guaranteed that you like a band that is far, far shittier than these guys.

It’s not to say they are not good musicians, but when it sounds like every other kiddie metalcore band, then what is the point? I give more credit to the bands that stray from that path and create something a bit different. Of course nothing is completely original, as everything ha pretty much been done already, but you can still be creative and take risks as an artist, not emulate what is making other bands successful ($$$).

    • Well said, Midnight.

Like I mentioned, these guys are nothing new. My point is that they are good at what they do, though. They’ve brought back the “fun” in metal (specifically metalcore). That doesn’t mean I particularly like this group. I just see the appeal. They’re about playing loud music, partying, and overall just having a good time. I think the “sex, drugs & rock ‘n roll” is severely lacking in this type of music.

It may not be serious with deep meanings in each song, but it’s fun.

@Bitter Old Man, uhm? target audience of emo/wannabe hipster? Are you taking a crack at me because I have a soft spot for BMTH? First of all, I’m 31 years old, and I am far from emo and even further from hipster. Just because an artist or band appeals to me, and not to you, doesn’t mean you can just pigeon hole me as being a spiky hair emo wannabe. I have no desire to defend the integrity of a band like BMTH who sing about getting drunk, and pissing on girls. It’s simply not needed…I will however argue about judging people based solely on what they listen to. I have a buddy who fucking loves Taproot, he’s a great guy, but he has the worst taste in bands. He’s neither an emo fag, or a wannabe hipster, he’s just got poor taste in my opinion. Let’s agree to disagree on BMTH, but if you start throwing out the judgments about me as person, expect flames back. Fag. =)

@Aries Veil….I respect that…let’s agree to disagree about BMTH. I was only asking that about you because let’s face it…that IS their target audience and most of their fan base. I saw them live once opening for Every Time I Die (whom I have a soft spot for) and was honestly more disgusted by how ridiculous their fans looked and acted more so than their music.
I’m just glad to hear you’re not one of those trendy fucks and/or some high school kid who thinks he knows everything.
I’m 28, and also have a great friend who likes a lot of shit radio music along with the good heavy music I love. So we actually may have more in common than our shit talking lends itself too. I’m glad we could smooth the icing on this cake
