That’s the best news I’ve heard all week…Excited to see a solid release date. Good album name too for once – a lot better than Saturday Night Wrist. And the sample…sounds interesting

This is great news. Sounds better (obviously) than the clips I’ve seen online from all the benefit shows. Cool name too, even though I thought Saturday Night Wrist sounded interesting, it just didn’t sound up to par.

I saw them Septemberish 08, one of the last shows before Chi’s accident, and they played a new song back then, however it might have been from the scrapped Euros album maybe? It’s hard to see the Deftones live if you’re not already familiar with the music, it can be a little hard to make out some of it.

I knew I was wrong as I was typing it, I was just too lazy to look it up. Now that I think about, Euros sounds stupid anyway. Good thing they aren’t naming it that.

    • Nice clip but it doesn’t really say too much. I have high hopes though. Instead of Eros they should call the postponed album Eros Ramazzotti. Guaranteed hundreds of thousands more albums shipped.

For me, the Deftones have been the strongest from the era they came up in. Amongst their peers, they have continually written interesting and passionate music.

I’m sure this album will rock. I’m looking forward to the lyrics as much as the music. Considering what they’ve been going through.

Hopefully Eros will be released one day with Chi rockin’ out on stage. \m/

    • @Surly – I liked Team Sleep because their album was cohesive just like White Pony was. The Deftones albums since White Pony have just been a fucking tease. Release a good single, get our hopes up, album releases, majority of album is forgettable filler, repeat. At this point I am more interested in their unreleased stuff. They have at least 2 albums of unreleased material and I am curious to hear the music they made that didn’t meet up to their standards.

    • Mm..I was just looking for any excuse to use my ‘snore’ pun. I liked the single off their record, Foreign Flag. Anyway, I’d have to say their s/t release was solid. It was dark, brooding and their heaviest. I find myself listening to it even more than the much lauded, White Pony. SNW was largely a disappointment imo. The band is first to admit that it was less than desirable. The only stand out tks on that are Kimdracula and Rivière. True, they may have a stack of ‘unreleased’ tracks, but what’s not to say they’re any better than those ‘released’ tracks you don’t like? Potentially the Teething, Can’t Even Breathe era would be very cool to hear more of. I thought Lovers was a great b-side.

    • What is a snore-feast anyway? Their Self-Titled release was alright but whenever I listen to it I find myself skipping through a lot of the tracks. And Saturday Night Wrist is actually kind of the reason why I want to hear their unreleased material. I think I read in Spin that they recorded an albums worth of material but then scrapped it then recorded what we know as Saturday Night Wrist. I want to hear what they thought was worse than SNW. It’s not that I am expecting the unreleased songs to be good, it’s just that it has a better chance to sound different than what I expect from their new actually going to be released work.

    • Snore-feast…Like a person that’s sleeping snores. Oh, I meant fest…like festival. Not feast. So a snore-fest. Team Sleep…Snoring….sleeping…..boring…festival…yeah…ha. So yeah, moving right along.

    • To me this band has progressed with every album they have released. They and some fans somehow seem to think otherwise. Self-Titled and Saturday Night Wrist were 2 of my favorite albums by them and I’ve been a fan since ’96. The older deftones sound was good but I think they matured the way most bands do. In this case though they actually did improve with more melody and dynamics. I hate when bands say they have matured but in all reality they just don’t have the same flair they once had and the magic is gone. In deftones case they have matured but with that they have become better musicians and Chino has really grown as a vocalist. Once again this is just my opinion and don’t expect all to agree. I just wanted to state that some old fans actually prefer the new material compared to the old.

    • Eros is still around… When Vega joined the band they started writing songs with him and this is the result.. Its going to be fucking sick. Eros will be released if or when Chi comes out of his Coma.
