For all the comments about how shitty this festival is, it sure did get more comments than any other post since comments have been added. Am I right?

This does indeed look like the best in a long time though. I went one year and Poison the Well, Glassjaw, and yes, Andrew WK were the main draws. I heard WK is all born again and crap though, apparently he put out some shitty album I never heard of? So much for the party.

Protest the Hero was the main reason I went to the 08 Warped Tour. Too bad they aren’t on the bill again, them or August Burns Red. Oh well, Warped Tour occurs on my birthday, so my ticket is free anyhow

Last year’s incarnation of WT was fucking GARBAGE. But the previous years have housed some pretty interesting acts. Killswitch, Protest the Hero, Maylene & the Sons of Disaster, Reel Big Fish, August Burns Red, ETID…among others. I discovered a band called The Aggrolites there that kinda blew me away. So it’s always cool to browse the stages when there’s no acts you wanna see.

Besides, it’s a cool festival and you get to look at half naked scene chicks all day.

Whitechapel? Ok. Might have to go this year because of Dillinger Escape Plan and Polar Bear Club. Last time I went, Helmet played. It was pretty surreal watching one of my favorite bands play at the same time as Chemical Romance. Needless to say, about 98% of the turnout who were too busy checking out Gerard Way and Co. didn’t even know what they were missing… oh yeah, probably because they were still in kindergarden when Unsung played on MTV.

I went to Warped Tour ’08 with my girlfriend, and there were a ton of bands that were there that we dug. It just happens to have that “punk” rock stigma, and a bunch of shitty crunkrock bands.

Damn, The Polar Bear Club is skipping my stop of the Warped Tour. Guess that means The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, and Andrew W.K. are the only acts worth seeing at my local stop of the Warped Tour this year. And who knows if Andrew W.K. is actually going to sing or just do some motivational speaking…or both…personally I hope for both.

Anyway, as for DEP not fitting in on the tour, that’s kind of what makes The Warped Tour great and terrible all at the same time. For someone who is not really into the music scene it gives that person a broad scope of what’s out there and popular at the moment. While for others such as myself, it’s terrible because it requires one to sit through acts one has no desire to listen to such as Brokencyde, Millionaires, and Katy Perry (though she was nice to look at). But that’s why bands love this tour. It’s the perfect gateway drug to getting new and different fans. And as long as I don’t see DEP onstage crabcoring it up I am fine with it.

At least DEP is playing all the dates this year, and not just a handful like last.

Though DEP is about as out of place for Warped Tour as All That Remains was last year. Not really the fan base, but w/e, I’ll be there with my better half waiting to see them.
