Slayer, Megadeth And Anthrax Members Weigh In On ‘Big Four’ “Tour”
Following Metallica‘s recent confirmation that they will be sharing the stage with Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax this coming summer; members of Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax have also chimed in on the shows.

The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible “BIG FOUR” tour for several months. Now, SONISPHERE can exclusively reveal that METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe frenzied with excitement.
Says LARS ULRICH/METALLICA of this historic announcement:
“Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal’s big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindfuck! Bring it on!”“It’s about fucking time this happened,” said SLAYER’s KERRY KING. “and about time the fans finally get what they want. This is fucking awesome.”
ANTHRAX guitarist SCOTT IAN agrees, commenting on the enormity of the announcement.
“People have been talking about these four bands playing together since 1984. That’s twenty-six years of expectation!!! And the thing is, I believe not only will we live up to the expectations, we will shatter them!!
No other four bands as influential as the four of us have ever done this. Imagine if The Beatles, Stones, The Who and Zeppelin had done shows? Or Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead? Well, I may be getting into some rarified air here but as a fan, that’s how big I feel this is.”
These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement to dominate the metal world in the 1980s, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe.
The metal giants have never before all shared the same stage, despite huge demand. But on 16th June 2010, METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will take to the SONISPHERE stage at Bemowo Airport, Poland, to make the dreams of headbangers the world over become a reality.
A second Big Four appearance is planned for SONISPHERE CZECH REPUBLIC three days later, with more SONISPHERE shows featuring the awesome combo to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
“This is a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity for Heavy Metal “Fans” to see the four greatest Heavy Metal “Bands” in American History back together on one stage” concludes MEGADETH mainman DAVE MUSTAINE. “If there are any heads left at the end of this Festival that haven’t banged, they don’t belong there.”

Anthrax, in my opinion, does not belong with these other three acts. In a perfect world, Pantera would be the fourth act on this bill.
In sorta related news, you guys forgot to report that Dio has stomach cancer. Heaven and Hell is due to be at Sonisphere as well.
It’s a solid lineup. Let’s hope they don’t try and upsell tickets for 200usd.
Anthrax regardless of your opinion, they were around and towards the forefront of the scene 25 years ago, Pantera came along shortly thereafter. Anthrax will end up opening the tour when they go off and do their own non festival type gigs.
Slayer will run house though just like they did back at the 1999 tour Sounds of the Underground? What was the SlipKnot/Slayer coheadline US tour from that summer? Either way as someone who saw a few of them, Slayer had the best set even topping Metallica for the 1 off @ Giants Stadium.
I think slayer, megadeth, and anthrax are three of the most overrated acts in music period.
Who would Megadeth kick off the tour first?
@mjclementz: Big Four refers to key words biggest, thrash, and 80s. Glam Pantera just wouldn’t work.
Tattoo the Earth tour, 2001, I believe. Anthrax is awesome, but Scott Ian’s ego has held them down for years.

@andreasdelcarr: Have you ever heard Power Metal? circa 1988… could easily fit in with the big 4… If youve ever listend to power metal you would hear the Judas Priest + Metallica + Megadeth + Anthrax + Slayer influences over and over again….
If the “Big 4″ had one massive metal orgy, Dime, Rex, Phil and Vinne Paul would be their bastardized offspring, and god damnit if they wouldnt become the best band in heavy metal history.

Dime: I do agree with you that pantera wouldnt exist with these other acts. BUT I was just stating that in my opinion anthrax, megadeth, and slayer are overrated. This tour just doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. For me, going to this show would only mean that I could show up late and skip the opening acts to see metallica and be pissed that their set was cut short. Anthrax hasnt had their shit together since Belladonna left and never had any outstanding songs to begin with anyway, Dave Mustaine’s voice is annoying, and slayer is only mediocre at best for having such a cult following. You said “well its a good thing nobody cares what you think”, if people are excited about this about this than awesome I just simply dont care.
@hutdog: It’s still a good thing no one cares what you think. Slayer and Megadeth both rule the metal roost. Metallica is just struggling to stay relevant.
