I was hoping a band I actually knew would be covering “Cemetery Gates” that song is sacred though no one should touch that. Between the Buried and Me did and it turned out pretty bad. Between The Buried and Me is great but I don’t think they should of covered that song. I guess i’ll have to check Evile out sometime soon.

Then again A7X’s cover of “Walk” would of been better during the Waking The Fallen days.

For some reason i’m thinking Throwdown might cover I’m Broken or Mouth For War. I hope this tribute kicks ass because every other tribute of Pantera i’ve
found is garbage and they’re the band that got me into metal and my favorite metal band so I hope this tribute does them justice.

      STRONGER THAN ALL

I have heard from a reliable source that Winds of Plague, Suicide Silence and The Acacia Strain are in talks to appear as well as Vision of Disorder, I can only hope that they do not get Avenged Sevenfold, Emmure, Bring Me The Horizon do not appear on this. Pretty bad choices on Evile and Zakk. I would imagine your going to get a subpar release on this mainly because whomever this magazine is that is putting together this tribute is going to get shitty bands to cover these tunes.

    • Tribute albums are always dicey…….Look at the 20th anniversary of Master Of Puppets…..first two tracks were killer……..then it was ALL down hill from there.

As long as the band/artist covering certain ‘sacred’ songs do it justice, and not rape it beyond listenability, they will get the benefit from me. I have been listening to Evile, and believe they will do it right.

I’m surprised at Zakk choosing to do Suicide Pt. 1…..

      I await the final results.

    • I heard the Evile cover (actually just the first minute or so, I was commuting) of CG last night on XM, and it was pretty well done. The vocals were a bit cleaner (devoid of the Anselmo grit), but that was about the only difference. Really, it was a rather pedestrian effort (from what I heard, I’ll reserve further judgment).

    • I’m not a huge Throwdown fan, but when I saw them live a few years ago, they covered A New Level, and it wasn’t half bad. Maybe they could do that one. When I happened to see them a year later with Machine Head & Arch Enemy, they were about to tour with Sepultura, so they covered Roots Bloody Roots. I was surprised to be so impressed.
